I have learned new things about my future husband. Before I get to that, let me first explain something. My sister likes to call me a weasel. Not because I look like one or anything, but any time I go to visit my parents, I tend to weasel free stuff (make-up I know my mom will never use, etc.) out of them. I think it just comes with the whole broke college kid thing, and sometimes my sister is worse than me. However, Patrick takes the cake on this one. For example, we needed pasta sauce, rather than go to the store... he goes to his parents house. Do we walk out with just pasta sauce??? No way! We leave with soda, pudding mix, some nasty looking tuna thing, and pasta sauce. One night we were over there for dinner, did we just leave with leftovers??? Nope! We got a bottle of champagne too. Not that I mind, I just find it pretty funny.
Patrick's mother has cooked us dinner like 3-4 times in the past couple weeks. Both my soon to be mother-in-law and my mother are such awesome cooks... I really need to get on that. To my defense, I don't really trust Patrick to translate the directions after the pudding incident, and it would take me an hour just to type it all into google translator.
I am hoping to start my German classes next month. I have to go for an interview so they can determine which level I need to be put in. I am betting I wind up in a class with five year olds, and even they will know more German than I do. On a better note, at least I will be able to drive myself there! My smart car will be all mine tomorrow. We had a fun adventure going to the German equivalent of the DMV today. Let me just say this, German people have their shit together. It not only took less than an hour, but you get your license plates there! You go to the office next door while you are waiting for them to process your paper work and BAM! they make your license plates right in front of you.
On the apartment front, we finally got our closet put together, which was absolute hell. The bathroom door will be put up tomorrow, so now when I step out of the shower, I wont have to see the kitchen. Speaking of kitchen, that is still not finished. We are getting creative and making it work :).
Funny story to finish this one off with. So everyone knows about David Hasselhoff, and how he is German and blah blah blah. So I recently found out that he was born in America. Patrick was all excited, he was saying see I told you he wasn't really German... I don't see why people think he is from Germany, he is dumb, etc. We were packing up some more of his stuff at his parents house and he has an old stereo with a cassette player in it and which cassette is currently in there? David Hasselhoff... so much for his argument! He swears that it wasn't his... but I don't know if I believe that one.
It has been a pretty boring week, so that is about it. Now that I have a car, hopefully I will have more to share soon.

Adventures :)
This was the first weekend we weren't unpacking and doing apartment-related stuff. Yay! This was also the first weekend we were able to cook meals in our apartment, which we definitely did.
Today Patrick brought me breakfast in bed, and we laid on the couch having a "Sweatpants Sunday" until I decided we had been lazy enough. Thankfully, we had a nice break from the rain and snow. We decided to go see the WWII memorial that is a couple streets down from our apartment. It was a nice hike up the mountain, but the view from the top was amazing. After the city was bombed, they piled remains of houses and building on top of a mountain, making it 40 meters higher above sea level. Here are some of the pictures:

After we left, we decided to go to Tübingen to go see the Hoehentübingen castle. The drive itself was gorgeous. I fell in love with Tübingen. It is exactly what you picture when you think of a cute, really old town. The hike up to the castle was a pretty big one... I learned just how out of shape I really am. Well worth it though :).
Thankfully, the rain waited until we were in the car. It was a short drive back to our apartment. We made dinner, I absolutely failed at making vanilla pudding (I guess that's what happens when you trust a boy to translate the directions) and now we are watching the football game :) gotta love ESPN America.
Hopefully this week we can get our closet put together. Other than that everything seems to be done. I need to get my learn German CD going this week. Other than that we are planning some great adventures for next month, Cologne and Switzerland :).

Pictures, finally!
I got my camera cord last night and was finally able to charge my camera! Yay! Last night we thought we would be finished with the living room, however, we need to buy one more set of curtains, then we will be done! Our kitchen finally has a sink and fridge, but sadly, still no stove/oven or counter tops :(. Our bedroom is still the only room that hasn't received any attention except for a ceiling lamp. Hopefully I will be able to paint of Friday so we can put up our closet and get all these clothes out of the way! Here are some of the pictures of our house.
In celebration of having a camera again, I decided to go on a walk today and take some pictures. It was good to get out of the house, and the weather was really nice! I took the road/walking path that goes down the hill from our house. The bad thing about living on a hill and walking down... you have to walk back up... Fail. Anyways, here are some of the pictures I took :)
Since they didn't have Fresno, I had to settle for NY.
Our dining area wall.
Khloe
Empty shelves, but at least they are up!
Sneaked in a picture of my sleepyheads

Progress
After today, we will finally have a kitchen! Well, let me clarify... we will have a refrigerator, sink, and possibly oven! We still have to install the counter tops and put the cupboards up. I guess I am getting a bit ahead of myself. For those of you who do not know, or haven't watched as much House Hunters International as I have, when people move out of an apartment, they take the kitchen with them. Since our apartment has a kitchen/shower combo, and we separated the two with a wall, we have had some issues getting everything done.
The good news is that our living room is done! I finished painting today and we are putting up all of our wall art tonight! Finally at least one room is done, and I think the rest will be done by the end of the week. That will keep me busy while Patrick is at work.
I am hoping my camera cord gets here today... then I can actually post pictures of everything :).

First post from Germany!
First order of business... my blogger is now in German, which is a big problem because I can't read it!
Now that I got that off my chest, I know this post is coming really late. However, blame it on the horrible, mean French people because they stressed me out on the trip over and it has been a little bit crazy since.
I guess that is where I will start off, the 24+ hour trip over to my new home. Everything was fine until we showed up in France, well besides the Delta gentleman in Fresno who took a good hour to check us in. Let me just say that either French people hate A) Americans B) Germans or C) Everyone that isn't French... I'm gonna go with the last one. After dealing with an extremely rude Air France jerk, we got our tickets, and sat down to 3 hours of playing Uno and Deal or no Deal on Patrick's phone. As we were in line to board the plane to Stuttgart (aka home), they called our names over the loud speaker. As we made our way up to the desk, we were thinking that they were able to get us seats together on that flight. *Insert huge punch to the face here* Yea, sorry we can't let you board this flight. Although your cat was set to go straight through to Stuttgart, she is sitting alone, on the floor, unattended, soaked in her own urine, in baggage claim. Obviously that is not what they said, us customer service people know how to make things sound pretty. After finding Khloe, drying her off, and putting a new pee pad in her crate, we started the long trek back to another 3 hour wait for the next flight. It was hell.
We got to our new home close to 9pm. The work that everyone did here looks amazing. However, considering the very short amount of time and all the stuff that was required, we don't have a kitchen or a door on our bathroom yet. We are making it work though :). This apartment is awesome, and I'm excited to see it fully finished.
As of right now, my new camera charger will be here on Monday. So for now, you have to deal with cell phone quality pictures. Enjoy :)
The only place I have seen snow so far. Salt Lake City.
Leaving Salt Lake City.
Airplane sunset.
Our amazing yard/view.
Patrick's godson, Etienne.
Our closet is not set up yet, so we are still living out of
our suitcases.
Our apartment was decorated with balloons and stuff :).
After Khloe's version of hell at the Paris
airport, she is settling in.
I will have pictures of the actual apartment as soon as I get my camera up and running again, most likely Monday.
Also, keep Patrick's dad in your thoughts and prayers, he had a heart attack this morning and is in the hospital.

The night before...
Well it is my last night in the U.S.... and I am still not completely packed. I swear procrastination should be my middle name. To my credit, I did have to make an unplanned 5 hour drive to rescue my passport so I can actually leave the country.
Packing has been the least of my worries this past week. Everyday Patrick and I have had a mile-long list of things that we needed to get done. Those lists included driving all the way up to the USDA in Sacramento to get Khloe's pet passport verified and endorsed, countless vet and target trips, etc.
So here I am, on the eve of my departure, surrounded by a mountain and a half of crap... and I have absolutely no motivation to do anything except lay in bed.
I guess I'd better get to it.... the next time I blog will be from Germany!
